Jr. and His Soulettes This is essentially an album recorded by a group of kids in the late 60's playing their brand of funk with lots of fuzz, organ and wah-wah. Even though most of the songs sound the same, there are a couple standout tracks: Tracks: Thing Do the Creep, Momma Love Tequila.

Consider this cd as state's exhibit #1 that there was a cool alternative to the Jackson 5 and Osmond Brothers for kids back in Produced by their father and sold locally somewhere in Oklahoma back in the day, 10 year old Harold Moore, "Jr.", (wah wah guitar) and his 3 sisters (percussion and wah wah organ) pound out funky instrumentals and sing cool songs with nearly unintelligble lyrics 5/5(1).

yeah, I do know, but in order to do that I need to be able to repeat that rythm in my head. There is a difference if there are 5 hi-hats sounds between or if there is a "closing" hi-hat and then 4 hi-hats. And right now I'm just a little confused, because I can't hear there "closing" sound, and that changes the approach to playing this song.

Funky Beats collects ten random funk, soul, and soul-jazz cuts from the Prestige vaults. There are no real surprises here and it tends to be a little bit kitschy in certain areas, but on the whole, there are enough strong, funky, infectious tunes here to keep listeners interested.
